Archive for January, 2010

I have been dying to share these the past two weeks and finally get to now that they are married (well as of tomorrow morning… but Ben has seen the dress now since we did their couple shoot tonight!) Bridals are a blast, and Erika made them even more fun. Holding to the urban theme we started when we did their engagement session back in November, we made our way through little downtown Provo again. Utah in the winter is cold, this winter has been the coldest that I can remember since I moved here. Add wind to it and you have a freezing, miserable day. Well this particular day was freezing with a huge capital F. Poor Erika was an absolute trooper, I felt super guilty bundled up in my peacoat, sweater, gloves and my fuzzy boots. The wind kept making my eyes water, so it looked like I was crying the entire shoot. Tears of joy Erika, because I am SO excited and happy for you! You are one seriously beautiful bride :)

This was a fun session for me. These two are a fantastically fun couple, they both have these great personalities which just make my job easy, and it was pretty obvious they enjoy being together. I have known Tyler for a few years now, he actually is the reason that I met my husband. For the last few years I have sort of been the only girl around, and while Tyler was away on a 2 year mission for the LDS church, I was basically a fourth wheel to the other two guys that are at our house all the time. As much fun as they are, I needed some other girls around. So needless to say, when Tyler returned home and had Chelcie around with everyone my life changed. It is fantastic, she is great, and I was very excited when they decided to have me do their pictures. They are kind of getting the best of both worlds in my opinion, a fun wintery engagement shoot (with her ADORABLE boots and scarf) and a beautiful spring wedding. Their colors, black and red. Can you say classy! LOVE IT!

One test, that is it, all that is holding me back from being done with college and being able to become a full time creative. It is amazing to me how different right brained people are from left brained people. Polar opposites I tell you. For some odd reason I decided to leave math as my last course to finish, coming from classes where I was drawing, taking pictures, and coming up with artistic lesson plans for first graders, my brain did not want to think numbers. Well, I have almost made it out. January has been killing me because all I want to be doing is taking pictures for all you wonderful people out there. Instead I have been stuck inside my prison cell of arithmetic.

I have been taking my camera everywhere with me lately because I have wanted to try and do a shot a day (I keep hearing about these 365 projects and I admire those of you that can stay on top of them!) Mine might be more like a shot a week, maybe the 52 plan, BUT I have really been enjoying how different every single day it (visually speaking) so I have been shooting it and this particular shot just seems to fit in with my topic this week… There is light at the end of the tunnel, I can see it, almost feel it, taste it (except I don’t think light taste like anything, but you get the point.) The light and landscape were doing some fun things this particular day, so I added a few more shots to make the post more fun.
