Artist Dix Baines {Web Design}

March 17th, 2010

I am way excited to share this with everyone. These past few months I have been working hard on a website for artist Dix Baines who is a fine art oil painter located in Parker, Colorado featuring western landscapes, architecture, and angling images. He wanted a site that would showcase his work, yet at the same time be more modern and functional for prospective clients and keep everyone updated on everything he is currently working on.

There are some really cool areas of this site, one in particular that I believe is my favorite, is a journal that documents the time he spent painting the landscape around Gateway Canyons in Colorado. The thing that really sets this section of his site apart is the personal side of the artist that you’re able to discover. A lot of times we never really get to know the artist and what was honestly going on in their mind while they were working. And let me assure you, an artist’s brain is full of so many ideas and thoughts running through it at once that a pen and paper is probably the only way to keep everything straight. Another thing I love, his handwriting. It is a work of art in itself, to see the scribbles and sketches he did before any of the actual painting happened is fantastic. This journal documents his experience from Summer 2007 through Spring 2008 and I highly recommend heading over and checking it out here.

For those that are located in Colorado and interested in creating, discussing, and just enjoying art, Dix offers Art Nights which are weekly gatherings on Thursday Evenings in his studio for all levels of artist, and for all media. Please visit www.dixbaines.com for more information and follow Dix on facebook to stay up to date on what he is doing!
